I started this project to gain a better understanding of the offerings available from Google, Microsoft, and Amazon. My experience with infrastructure began with mainframes at Verizon (Bell Atlantic NSI) and quickly moved to colocations at Hurricane Electric when the founder of ImageEvent let me use some rack space to house two 2U servers that I acquired during a startup fire-sale.
Eventually I migrated to virtual machines: Slicehost, RackSpace, Digital Ocean, Linode, etc. Although today's offerings from Amazon and others reach far beyond infrastructure, for many of the businesses that I interact with during my day job, access to high performance infrastructure remains a top concern. I built Cloudvoyance to provide independent developers and businesses looking to embrace the cloud with real-world performance numbers and environment details.
